The international trade show and exhibition center Messe Cologne (Koelnmesse) is the biggest event venue located in Cologne, Germany. Since its establishment in 1922, the building has moved from historic Rheinhallen to an open space near them in 2005. Koelnmesse is one of the biggest trade show organizers in the nation, hosting around 80 trade shows and more than 2,000 conferences every year. Its 284,000 m2 exposition floor area makes it the third largest in the country.
The trade show grounds are located in Cologne's right-Rhenish suburb of Deutz, just adjacent to the Köln Messe/Deutz station to the south. The station, among others, features ICE connections to Köln Hbf and Cologne/Bonn Airport via Deutsche Bahn. West of the trade show grounds are the Rheinpark, a 40-hectare park on the Rhine, and Tanzbrunnen, an open-air theater. In addition to the Köln Messe/Deutz station to the south, the Cologne Stadtbahn Koelnmesse station serves Messe Cologne to the east.
The building has been under renovation, since 2018, that is expected to continue to 2060.
